The Center for Advanced Training and Retraining of the Pharmaceutical Education and Research Institute, which recently began its activities in the Yunusabad district of our capital, managed to improve the skills of more than 500 pharmacists in 3 months. This significant indicator indicates that the Center has a solid fundamental technical scientific base, extensive capabilities, resources, and highly qualified professors and teachers.
We talked with the director of the center, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Iskandarova Shohista Fekhruzovna about the conditions for accepting students of this educational institution, the areas and procedure for training, and important aspects for specialists.
 
Question: When did the Center for Advanced Training and Retraining, which is currently operating effectively at the Pharmaceutical Education and Research Institute, begin its work?
 
Shohista Iskandarova: The Center for Advanced Training and Retraining of Pharmacists at the Pharmaceutical Education and Research Institute was established in November 2021 and was issued a certificate No. 015112 by the State Inspectorate for Quality Control of Education under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the activities of advanced training and retraining of personnel. The center began its activities in November.
 
Question: Any proposals, projects in the field of science also arise from demand. What do you think is the need for advanced training and retraining of pharmacists at the FTTI?
 
Shohista Iskandarova: As is known, the pharmaceutical industry requires daily self-improvement and regular professional development. The database on medicines is updated by an average of 15% annually. This center is operating in order to ensure the implementation of the tasks set by the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures for the further development of the system of medical and pharmaceutical education and science” dated May 6, 2019 PQ-4310 and to further develop the provision of competitive non-state educational services based on modern technologies and innovations in the pharmaceutical sector.
 
Question: What is the difference between this center and other existing retraining centers? What tasks has the organization set for itself?
 
Shohista Iskandarova: At the Center for Advanced Training and Retraining of the Pharmaceutical Education and Research Institute, not only for the advanced training of pharmacists, but also for the first time in the republic for retraining courses for specialists in biotechnology, metrology, standardization and product quality management, and medicinal plant care technology (agroecology), the necessary equipment has been prepared, all regulatory documents have been developed and approved, and finally, training in these courses has begun since January 2022.
 
Question: In what areas can you improve your skills here? Please provide information about the duration and cost of the course.
 
Shohista Iskandarova: The Center for Advanced Training of the FTTI has advanced training and retraining courses in the following areas:
1. Economics of pharmacy institutions and current problems in pharmacy – 144-hour general advanced training courses;
 
2. Current topics in pharmaceutical practice – 144-hour general advanced training courses;
 
3. Quality assurance in pharmaceutical enterprises in accordance with the national requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) – 144-hour general advanced training courses;
 
4. Mechanization and automation of the drug preparation process in pharmacies – 36-hour short-term advanced training courses;
 
5. Marketing strategy and tactics in the pharmaceutical market – 36-hour short-term advanced training courses;
 
6. Pharmacoeconomics (methods of systematic analysis of scientific literature) – 36-hour short-term advanced training courses;
 
7. Retraining courses in the field of pharmacy education (for graduates of biotechnology, industrial pharmacy, metrology, standardization and product quality, and medicinal plant care technology (agroecology)).
 
Our center currently has the most preferential prices for students.
 
Question: How many students can the center train at a time?
 
Shohista Iskandarova: The center has created conditions for more than 200 students to study at the same time.
 
Question: The potential of professors and teachers and the created conditions are of great importance in effective advanced training. What can you say about the fundamental scientific base and resources of the center?
 
Shohista Iskandarova: Potential professors and teachers of science and practice, leading specialists in pharmacy, are involved in the advanced training process, and students receive the latest information in the field. For example: trainees receive the latest information on pharmaceutical technology, organization of pharmaceutical work, pharmacology and other modules in real-life practice conditions based on innovative technologies.
 
The center is staffed by qualified teachers with sufficient experience in the pharmaceutical field - Scientific Advisor of the Pharmaceutical Education and Research Institute, Professor Yunuskhodjayev Ahmad Nigmanovich, Advisor to the Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, Assoc. Prof. Ibragimova Muhabbat Yakhoyevna, Head of the Licensing and Supervision Department of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences Zufarova Gulnora Khairullayevna, Professor of the Pharmaceutical Education and Research Institute Zaynutdinov Khikmatilla Sunnatovich, Director of the Center for Advanced Training and Retraining of the Pharmaceutical Education and Research Institute, Professor Iskandarova Shohista Fekhruzovna, and others.
 
Question: Are advanced training classes organized online or offline?
 
Shohista Iskandarova: We offer both types of advanced training courses to the trainees, based on their capabilities. They choose the type of training themselves. For example: the course starting on February 16 is planned to be held online, depending on the current epidemiological situation and the wishes of the trainees.
 
Question: What document will the specialists be given upon completion of the course?
 
Shohista Iskandarova: At the end of the course, the trainees will be given a certificate of completion of advanced training, approved by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This certificate allows specialists to work in the pharmaceutical sector for 5 years.
 
Question: How many specialists have advanced training at the center to date?
 
It has been almost 3 months since the center began its activities. During this short period, more than 500 specialists have managed to improve their skills. We are receiving letters of gratitude and appreciation from them.
 
Question: Tell us about the center's plans for the future.
 
Shohista Iskandarova: It is no exaggeration to say that the specialists of our center are constantly searching. We are constantly improving our capabilities to find solutions to the existing problems of the trainees who attended the advanced training courses, as well as to effectively organize their future activities. In the future, we intend to involve leading specialists in the pharmaceutical industry from developed countries in the educational process and train specialists capable of providing exemplary pharmaceutical services to our people.
